Ashok Kumar to receive Mohun Bagan Lifetime Achievement Award

Ashok Kumar, Dhyan Chand's son will be conferred with the Lifetime Achievement Award by city football club Mohun Bagan on the occasion of its foundation day in a virtual ceremony in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mohun Bagan Day is celebrated every year on July 29 to commemorate their IFA Shield triumph in 1911 when they had won the tournament defeating East Yorkshire Regiment 2-1, thus becoming the first Indian club to end the British stranglehold.

Ashok  Kumar was known for his exceptional skills and ball control. He was a member of the Indian team that won the 1975 World Cup.
He was awarded the Arjuna Award in 1974 and, in 1975, scored the winning goal against Pakistan to achieve India's only win in the World Cup. He was awarded with Yash Bharti Samman by the Government of Uttar Pradesh in the 2013.
