Indian Air Force develops (ARPIT) Airborne Rescue Pod for Isolated Transportation

The Indian Air Force has designed, developed and inducted an Airborne Rescue Pod for Isolated Transportation (ARPIT) that will be utilised for the evacuation of critical patients with infectious diseases including COVID-19 from high altitude areas, isolated and remote places.


Features of ARPIT

  • The first prototype was developed at 3 BRD AF and has undergone various modifications. 
  • Only indigenous matterials have been used in the pod keeping in mind 'Atmnirbhar Bharat' call by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
  • This pod has been prepared only at cost of 60000 rupees.
  • This pod ha been developed as lightweight isolation system.
  • It has been made from aviation certified material.
  • The ARPIT utilises High-Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) H-13 class filters and supports invasive ventilation using Transport Ventilator. 
  • The IAF is inducting a total of 7 ARPITs as of now.
